I teach 7th grade health and p.e. at a middle school. We have health day 1 for an hour, p.e. day 2 for an hour, and this repeats itself throughout the school year. I am interested in joining them together to tie the p.e. information to my health information and vise verse. Currently our units are very different with a sport based p.e. curriculum and health curriculum that ranges from 1st aid, nutrition, heart, disabilities, and human growth.
This year I am trying to join together a Fitness unit to a Heart Health unit with the American Heart Association program. Next year I will add a Adaptive sport unit in p.e. with our Ability not Disability unit in Health. Other than these 2 units, I don't know where else to blend.
Does anyone have a blended curriculum that gets taught hand in hand? Does anyone know of literature that helps create a mindset of a melded program?
